Webs Unwoven

Elder Tribunal has been very busy! In between saving Metzen and destroying the Greench, we've been visitting some of Northrend's most wanted, and gathering presents of our own. First, congratulations to ET on their full clear of the Spider Wing of Naxxramas! Two guild firsts in this wing...

To find fulfillment...don't exist with life...embrace it.
-Jim Beggs

Grand Widow Faerlina, the second boss of Spider Wing, unlike the first is not all about the tanks. This cultist demands coordination and output from the DPS, and they came through for us here, after one practice attempt.

Malice sucks up the greater part of her own venom, and poisons herself.
-Michael de Montaigne

Maexxna, final boss of Spider Wing, is an enormous spider that gorges herself on the corpses of hapless adventurers. Quite the imposing figure for our rag-tag band. Healers and Tanks really came through on this one, to pull us out of spider's web at the last moment.

We also tried our hand at the Plague Wing and met with success. Noth the Plaguebringer was ET's first ONE SHOT in Naxxramas. Great job, everyone. No photo for this one, the Lich King recalled this servant of darkness before we had time to commemorate his demise. Loot will prove with photography fails. We also worked on Heigan the Unclean, and attempted to prove that white men can dance.

In other realms, the Black Dragonflight's days slowly comb to an end, as the Elders keep pressure on their breeding grounds beneath Wyrmrest, within the Obsidian Sanctum. On our first night in OS, we downed Sartharion, and have done so multiple times a week since!

Once there as the People - Terror gave it birth;
Once there was The People, and it made a hell of earth!
Earth arose and crushed it. Listen, oh, ye slain!
Once there was The People - it shall never be again!
-Rudyard Kipling

Finally, we returned to Outland to lay waste to Tempest Keep, and the false Prince of the Blood Elves. Kael'thas down!

All power corrupts, but we need the electricity.

Just a little taste...

The report of my death was an exaggeration.
-Mark Twain

On Friday, December 5th, Elder Tribunal made its first foray into a level 80 raid. Ten of us went in and bravely met the first of the Lich King's challenges. And challenging he was! The perverse nerubian Anub'Rehkan challenged us to learn new skills that will come in handly later in Naxx, and reminded us how precious every little upgrade is. Congratulations to all of our new Level 80s, and to those who got loot last night! Keep it coming!

...it will all be over soon.

Live, Learn and then get Lewts (TM)

Of all the pulpits from which human voice was ever sent forth, there is none which reaches so far as from the grave.
-John Ruskin

And thus, the gallery of the dead grows. We lay them beneath our feet, and, merciless, march on towards their masters.

It may be that the old astrologers had the truth exactly reversed, when they believed the stars controlled the destinies of men. The time may come when men control the destinies of the stars.
-Arthur C. Clarke

I have a right to my anger, and I don't want anybody telling me I shouldn't be, that it's not nice to be, and that's something wrong with me because I get angry.
-Maxine Waters

Use your enemy's hand to catch a snake.

Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events.
-Winston Churchill

"Echoes of Doom," or "Ch Ch Ch Changes"

We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.
-Tom Stoppard

Echoes of Doom whispered across Azeroth two weeks ago (a.k.a., The pre-Wrath content patch of 3.0.2) and brought with it a myriad of changes... The Elders have spent the past two weeks busily, testing out new spells and abilities, rebalancing their talent specs and adapting to a new world... preparing for the greater challenges ahead in the frozen and forboding beyond.

For better or for worse, we've tested those abilities on a number of our old enemies, and have proceeded to steam roll through those who once stood in our way. What good is a fact if you can't change it? Lurker and Leotheras have become cake now, and we are proceeding through Mount Hyjal, Black Temple swiftly. On the weekends, Tempest Keep, Kharazan and Zul'Aman find themselves the unwitting targets of our machinations, and have been wiped clean by them. We've set a number of new records for ET recently!

- Solarian DOWN!
- Anetheron DOWN!
- Kaz'rogal DOWN!
- High Warlord Naj'entus DOWN!
- Four Chest Zul'Aman! (and two Three Chest runs!)
- Kharazan in 2 hours and 12 minutes, with each boss fight barely over one minute long!

Great work ET, Grats to those with new loot, and continue to prepare yourselves for the bigger, the better, and the more challenging! Stay Classy, Shattrath.

More pics after the bump...

Blinded by the Light

There is a condition worse than blindness, and that is seeing something that is not there.
-Thomas Hardy

After sharpening our work in SSC on Lurker and his trash, we moved on to Leotheras the Blind. The fight was exciting and challenging for all involved, and showed us how to re-hone our basic skills, how to effectively use our playspace, and how to overcome challenges. After a few nights of intense tries and intense personalities, we finally downed him! He still gives us a run for our money, but it won't be long until he's another notch in our belt and we've moved on to bigger fish (like Karathress and Najentrus.) We're looking forward with mixed feelings to 3.0.2 and Wrath, but everyone carries some excitement.

Congrats to all the new members who have made full member, and congrats to those with new loot. Happy New Year to those to whom it applies, welcome back to school to the students, and enjoy the changing seasons!

Anger Management

“Anger is a killing thing: it kills the man who angers, for each rage leaves him less than he had been before - it takes something from him." -Louis L'Amour

You wouldn't like us when we're angry...

Last night, Elder Tribunal, on their second foray ever, stepped into Mount Hyjal and obliterated the Lich Rage Winterchill. An excellent accomplishment, after getting him to 35% and 29% on our initial tries, our Rage kill comes with the majority of the raid's first entrance into the legendary battle. We look forward to returning soon, to see that Rage is kept in his place, and to begin our progress on Anetheron and the rest of Archimonde's henchmen.
Congratulations to Darque and Rakaabu on loot!

In other news, last Friday ET full-cleared Zul'Aman, downing Hex Lord for the second time in recent attempts, and Zul'jin for the first. We look forward to turning them into farm content and keeping the loot train rolling.

ET continues to push forward in the battle against Kael's blood elves and Vashj's naga, with VR clears in less than an hour and attempts on Solarian progressing smoothly, and staring down the barrel at Leotheras (it's ok to stare, he can't see us.)

It's been a fun and full period for ET, as we move through content and look leerily over the potential Wrath changes. If you think ET may be the place for you, check out our Recruitment Forums. We have several class openings, particularly Protection Warriors and Feral Druids.

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light

Lurk Moar

Many men go fishing their entire lives without knowing it is not fish they are after.
- Henry David Thoreau

And ET has continued its march forward, downing the leviathan known as The Lurker Below. After a week or two of intensely close attempts, we've entrenched ourselves in Serpentshrine Cavern, and now we sat our eyes on its further guards and, soon enough, the matron Vashj. Elder Tribunal is preparing for the tough fights ahead, and while we have fun in heroics and PVP, everyone knows that come raid time we've got bigger fish to fry.

Congratulations to Elder Tribunal, Welcome to our new members, and sorry to Psymon our newest Officer.

"Myth does not mean something untrue, but a concentration of the truth." - Doris Lessing

From far corners of the world they came, scarred and bloodied. Across different worlds they travelled, sharpening their wits and honing their blades. Over countless nights they fought to survive. At once, joined together, they sought their mark, an adversary to match their abilities and give them chase.

Through fire and shadow they persevered, though the earth quaked and walls thundered at his call, and beneath them, the Pit Lord Magtheridon, Former Lord of Outland, fell.

From his death, spread honor and glory. From his blood, spread Nazgrel's favor amongst the Horde. And from his lair, treasures unearthed fell into the hands of champions, heroes and defenders who set their eyes on greater evils, and somewhere in the distance, those beasts felt a chill, for they knew of our approach.

Congratulations to all those who participated in Elder Tribunal's First Kill, a great job was done and a great time had by all.

Fuckoui, my friends. Fuck oui.

A Little Help From Our Friends

What would you do if I sang out a tune
Would you stand up and walk out on me
Lend me your ear, and I'll sing you a song
And I'll try not to sing out of key

Ooh, I'll get by with a little help from my friends. -The Beatles

On Tuesday, March 25th, Elder Tribunal returned to a place of infamy, armed with spell, sword and a generous assortment of allies from various tribes. After a few trip ups, we slew High King Maulgar, once again, and proceeded to show Gruul the Dragonkiller that Gronn are not, as they say, the true power in Outland.

We are.

Elders look forward to a return to bigger instances, the new challenges and opportunities introduced in patch 2.4, and a continued rise to glory. While our new recruits cut their teeth on older meat, the veterans look over their shoulders, preparing them for greater challenges. Check us out.

Comrades and Conquests

Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results. -Andrew Carnegie

Elder Tribunal wants You! Elder Tribunal has recently decided to open up recruiting to almost every class. ET is a group of fun-loving, mature raiders who seek more to help rise to new challenges. ET is a casual raiding guild who rise above the meaning of the word, currently exploring Tempest Keep and Serpentshrine Cavern. If you're a level 70 character with a strong desire to succeed and passion for the game, come and see if ET is the place for you. Find out more about Elder Tribunal's Recruitment Policy and submit your application here.

Congratulations to our Initiates, Parmenion, Kebecker, Warriorphil and Pramlock!

And then, in the strange way things happen
Their roles were reversed from that day
The hunted became the huntress
The hunter became the prey
-Conquest, by The White Stripes

Malacrass was profoundly lacking Mojo last week when Elder Tribunal threw open the doors and brought the fight to him. After several grueling attempts, the Elders got their hands on some good juju and brought down the tyrannical troll. We're all very proud of our success, but our appetite wouldn't be satiated with one new kill...

In fact, we continued our inexorable march to Zul'jin! He fought us on wing and foot and paw, but to no avail. The mighty troll leader could survive losing a limb... but not us.

And the rest, is history.

Happy Lunar Festival!

The Zombie in Red... Is dancing with me... (cheek to cheek)... - "Corpse" De Burgh

February heralds the celebration of the Lunar Festival and Love is in the Air WoW events. So, prepare your fireworks! Prepare your peddlefeet! Time is marching on, and you must march along, or get stomped on, lol.

In progession news, we are making progress in SSC and TK. We downed Lurker for the first time Wednesday (Hydross on farm status), and we are planning on kicking someone's Astromancer in TK on Sunday (loot reaver also on farm status). (KZ, GL on farm status. 3/4 bosses in ZA. ML on hold for now). And we continue to make progress on the PVP fronts by hosting multiple PVP farm teams multiple times during the week. Huzzah for purplies!

In other news, congratulations Warriorphil, Pramlock and Etselec on advancing your applications! Good luck in the application process!

For those history buffs... the WoW Lunar festival tends to coincide with the Chinese New Year. We are currently in the year of the pig, and we will be progessing into the year of the rat. Also, the Love is in the Air festival coincides with the U.S. Valentine's Day holiday.
